Actor. Model. Singer. Cook. Photographer.
Chris Costa was born and raised in Miami, FL to Brazilian parents. As a child, he was raised on "the classics." On Friday trips to Blockbuster, his mother would pick out a classic, such as Ben-Hur, The Sound of Music, or Indiana Jones, and he got to pick one movie from his favorite genres: horror and sci-fi, naturally. So he grew up loving films like The Exorcist, Contact, and his favorite, the Alien Anthology. He also grew up with a fondness for math and science, excelling in both, and discovered a passion for photography and cooking. But it wasn't until he arrived at the University of Florida that he fell into acting.
After UF, he moved back to Miami and started acting in regional theatre. From there, he decided to get serious and move to NYC. He studied at the Actors Movement Studio, learning various techniques from Lloyd Williamson, Janice Orlandi, Paula Murray Cole, and others. His focus was on the Michael Chekhov technique and Viewpoints.
He continued to act in short plays and independent film in NYC, but he knew he wanted to focus on becoming a better listener. So he began studying the Meisner technique with JoAnna Beckson. He studied Meisner for two years and then signed with About Artists Agency. He landed a recurring role on the HereTV series People You Know and also starred in Our Kiki: A Gay Farce at the NYC International Fringe Festival, which was well-received. He also had a role in director Paul Bettany's directorial debut, Shelter. Today, Chris can also be seen in print ads for Facebook, Disney, and the NYC Be HIV Sure Campaign. He can also be seen in show's such as FBI, New Amsterdam, Bull, and The Sinner.
MFA in Acting from The New School for Drama in NYC.
